The Capital Area Career Preschool is a program that serves children ages 3-5 and promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children.
The unique feature of the Capital Area Career Center Preschool is the direct involvement of high school students. Students are active in planning, preparing, and directing activities with the children.
A Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum and Practice provide for all areas of child development. Children learn through active exploration and interaction with other children, adults, and materials.
Child-initiated, child-directed, teacher-supported play is an essential component of a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Learning takes place as children touch, manipulate and experiment with materials and objects as well as interact with people. Children learn through doing! Learning experiences will include such areas as Language, Music, Art, Sensory, Math, Science, Fine & Gross Motor Skills, and other areas. An Interest Center approach, as well as small and large group activities, will be used.
